The Christian perspective on science recognizes the importance and benefits of science while at the same time being aware of its limitations. Science deals with the space time continuum and what is observable in that continuum. It is confined to the exploration and investigation of the natural world. Assumptions and theories are developed to provide a framework for understanding the natural world and thus expand human knowledge. Since science deals with the natural world the Christian student will find, for the most part, no conflict between his faith and science. The Christian, however, recognizes a dimension that is beyond the natural world and that is a dimension that science cannot address because it is beyond the space time continuum. Since that which is beyond the space time continuum cannot be accessed by any natural means known to man any knowledge of that other realm must come by being revealed. It is here where the Christian will consult the Bible as the source of revealed truth and will determine what belongs to the realm of nature and what belongs to the realm that is beyond the natural realm. The Christian always remembers the first words of the book of Genesis, “In the beginning God…” In this course you will study some of God's physical laws that create the framework in which we exist on Earth. The scientific interpretations of these laws are classified as: biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science. The topics of study range from the: ecosystems and how life is sustained on Earth, properties of chemicals and radiation, motion of objects, effects of thermal energy on Earth and how it is linked to plate tectonics. The understanding of the sciences will further open students’ eyes to the complexities of the world that God has created for us to live in.
