This course emphasizes God’s heart for justice and His call on our lives to join him in proclaiming good news to the poor, binding up the broken hearted, and setting captives free (Isaiah 61).  Social Justice 12 is a four-credit elective course in which students use various skills to define and actively explore a variety of social issues on a personal, community, and global level.  These issues may include concepts such as poverty, human trafficking, illegal land seizure, modern day slavery, hate crime, etc.  Students will study and educate themselves on various issues through research, personal involvement, and creative response. They then determine ways to raise awareness, inspire others to take action, and initiate proactive responses in their school and/or community through a final project. Students will utilize a variety of media for this course, including video, print, and the Internet.  In this manner, Christian teenagers learn ways to become agents of change in their own lives, in the lives of their communities, and in our world.
